Weekend in Normandy!
I went to Normandy a few years ago when I was a student in Paris, and when I got the opportunity to head back to the region again with Paris City Vision I was so excited! It was a two day trip and perfect for anyone who has only a short time in Paris and wants to experience as much as they can of this beautiful region of Normandy.
Saturday morning we met up early at their Paris office and soon we were off to the first stop: Rouen. With its impressive cathedral and famous clock in old town it was a great way to start the trip. Just another place that reminds you have much beauty there is to see outside of Paris as well. It was also a necessary time to stop for a breakfast croissant ;)
From there we headed to the port town of Honfleur for a quick lunch break. This town is super charming and picturesque, despite the cloudy weather.
After lunch we headed to the beaches of Normandy to learn more about the World War II sites. Our guide was full of fascinating facts and she was extremely knowledgeable about not just World War II but all of France. We stopped at three different beaches, including the American Cemetery in Omaha Beach. By the end of the day we were all tired and went to sleep in our private rooms in the Novotel hotel in Caen.
Day Two started with a drive to Mont Saint Michel. Normandy is known to be rainy, but we were lucky enough that the skies cleared and we were greeted with a gorgeous day upon arrival. After a tour of the Abbey we had some time to explore the island before heading to Saint Malo, (the only one of our stops that was actually not in Normandy but in Brittany).
We had the rest of our trip to grab lunch and enjoy the old walled city and views of the bright blue water. After two days packed full of information and city breaks it was time to head back to Paris. It was such a fun, event packed two days and I am so happy we went. I feel so lucky to have been able to visit all these gorgeous places. France really has so much to offer!
Have you ever visited any of these cities? Let me know if you have any questions about this tour :)
