Koh Phi Phi
Ahh Koh Phi Phi, the ever coveted island- star of young Leo DiCaprio's movie "The Beach"- this island does not disappoint. We spent a couple nights here in order to enjoy everything it had to offer.
First off, our hotel exceeded all expectations. It is called Phi Phi The Beach and it was absolutely gorgeous, offering stunning views of the island and the perfect location on Long Beach. It was really beautiful and extremely relaxing.
I think its becoming increasingly clear that I always search out the best viewpoints in all the destinations I visit so of course I went to the famous Phi Phi viewpoint here. There was a sign around our hotel pointing to it so we followed and 45 minutes later we made it! It would've been much easier and faster from Phi Phi center but our hotel is a bit outside so it was a longer trek. There is a small entrance fee but nothing big (I can't remember how much it was, sorry!).
Like everyone else that visits Koh Phi Phi we took a boat around the islands. Koh Phi Phi is actually made up of two islands, Koh Phi Phi Don (where everyone stays) and Koh Phi Phi Ley (where everyone boats). Once again I recommend getting a private boat to enjoy Koh Phi Phi Ley. From out hotel we had a private boat for 4 hours for 1800 baht. We only wanted a half day because of the impending rain in the afternoon and it actually turned out to be a perfect amount of time for us. Like most places in Thailand these places can be packed, so seriously, start your day EARLY. We went around to several places and even snorkeled a bit which was pretty fun but also really sad because it was like a coral reef cemetery (seriously its all dead, read more about the crisis here.. 😥).
It was a short trip but thoroughly enjoyable before we were back on the ferry to Krabi Town.
Have you been to Koh Phi Phi? What was your favorite part?
