Bye Bye Bali
Ahhhhh gosh it already feels like so long ago that we were soaking up the sun in Bali. I finally got to getting this final post together so here are some of my last tips!
The best way around Ubud is definitely by scooter, not to mention the most fun and sooooo cheap! Number one on pretty much everyone's list is Tegalalong Rice Fields. You absolutely must get there early to enjoy these views without crowds, and don't forget to tip the farmers as you prance amongst their crops.
Another spectacular place we visted was the gorgeous Tirta Gangga. This used to be a royal palace and wandering around the water gardens is so lovely. There are also a couple pools in the far back full of local children enjoying the refreshing water in the heat.
Up next, the beautiful Pura Lempunyang. This temple is actually a series of temples on the top of a mountain, and if you want to walk to them all it'll take about 4 hours. We only went to the first two which was only about 45 minutes total. It is definitely a drive out of the way to get here, but the Heaven's Gate was beautiful.
Another famous spot we decided to visit is the Tirta Empul Tampak Siring, aka the Holy Water Palace. This is where people come for spiritual cleaning and cleansing of the soul. It is very beautiful but it felt quick strange being one of MANY tourists there watching a spiritual moment for these people.. I can't say I would recommend it as a tourist destination, although from its name I am not quite sure I should have expected anything different..
Lastly, our final hotel of this big adventure... Blue Karma Resort Ubud. It was a dream, absolutely wonderful staff and all the services were wonderful, including the free hot rock massages we got with our booking price.. deal!
