Everyone talks about Bali and the magical way it connects with people, and wow it really is something special. We were consistently taken aback by everyone's kindness and the landscapes are soooo lush.
I mean look at this Airbnb we stayed in... talk about jungle fantasy! I felt like we stayed in Tarzan's mansion haha. It still feels like it was all a dream. If you want to stay in a Bali jungle getaway just search Airbnb! There are so many incredible places on their website! Just be prepared for some little visiters that might crawl in when you stay in these open air spaces...
I was really looking forward to the Bali food scene after seeing tons of gorgeous flat lay photos of it on Instagram, but to be honest it was just OK (except for Kismet Restaurant, I really loved that one).
We stayed in Ubud and traveled around from there. Unfortunately we didn't have as much time in Bali to really dive into everything it has to offer but in the time that we had I think we saw the perfect amount of sights. We visited the Ubud palace and a few of the temples around Ubud, as well as the Water Palace and Art Market (aka tourist central).
Of course a lot of people know already that the Sacred Monkey Forest is in Ubud and of course we had to visit. I was a bit nervous after hearing about how the monkeys jump on people, etc., but it was not really crazy if you aren't holding any food (one young macaque did sneeze on me though...🙊). The monkeys were definitely more rowdy with each other than humans, but there were so many tiny babies I was in love! I'm not sure if its always like that or if we were just lucky on the time of year. If you go just leave the babies alone.. I saw one woman trying to touch a very young Macaque and he started to panic, when his mother who was sitting not too far heard this she ran over and literally shoved the woman away from her baby before cuddling the young one into her chest. They are very protective!
